One 150-item computer-based exam in a single sitting covering: Federal Laws and Regulations (2 items), Washington Laws Rules and Regulations (45 items), General Insurance Concepts (17), Property and Casualty Insurance Basics (21), Dwelling Policy Concepts (2), Homeowners Policy Concepts (14), Personal Automobile Policy (14), Commercial Automobile Policy (5), Commercial Property Policies (10), Commercial General Liability (10), Businessowners Policy (6), and Other Types of Property and Casualty Insurance — Purpose and General Characteristics (4). All items are multiple choice delivered by computer.
Washington state producer licensing examination for the Property and Casualty lines of authority under the Revised Code of Washington Title 48 and Washington Administrative Code Title 284; delivered at 10 PSI test centers in Washington or by remote proctoring
Washington residency requirements: 18 years of age and trustworthy/competent; pre-licensing education is NOT required (OIC: 'Effective July 23, 2023, Washington will no longer require pre-licensing education to take your insurance exam'); the license application and fingerprinting happen after passing, not before
No limit on attempts, but a new appointment cannot be made on the same day as a failed attempt (earliest next-day rebooking); each retake requires a new exam fee, which is non-refundable and non-transferable
