One closed-book computer-based exam of 150 items across 13 weighted content areas: Insurance Regulation (5%), Federal Laws and Regulations (2%), General Insurance Concepts (11%), Property and Casualty Insurance Basics (19%), Dwelling Policy Concepts (8%), Homeowners Policy Concepts (11%), Personal Automobile Policy (11%), Commercial Automobile Policy (4%), Commercial Property Policies (9%), Commercial General Liability (9%), Businessowners Policy (5%), Other Types of Property and Casualty Insurance (3%), and Workers' Compensation Laws (3%)
Where rules vary
Arizona resident licensing exam; most nonresidents licensed in their home state are exempt
Eligibility
No prelicensing education or eligibility filing required to schedule; valid government-issued ID required at check-in; fingerprinting required as part of the license application after passing
Retake policy
Maximum of 4 attempts per 12-month period (A.R.S. § 20-284(H)); after a fourth failure, the candidate must wait one year before testing again; each retake requires a new USD 59 fee
