One 150-question combined-line exam across 13 outline domains: Insurance Regulation (11%), Federal Laws and Regulations (2%), General Insurance Concepts (11%), Property and Casualty Insurance Basics (14%), Dwelling Policy Concepts (6%), Homeowners Policy Concepts (9%), Personal Automobile Policy (9%), Commercial Automobile Policy (3%), Commercial General Liability (13%), Commercial Property Policies (7%), Businessowners Policy (5%), Workers' Compensation Laws (5%), Other Types of Property and Casualty Insurance (5%)
Where rules vary
Oregon state licensing examination for the Property and Casualty producer line of authority; per the Candidate Information Bulletin, 'Property and Casualty is equivalent to Property, Casualty, Marine and Transportation, Surety'; passing it is required before applying to the Division for a producer license. The outline cites Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS 731/744) and OAR 836 rules throughout.
Eligibility
Complete the required prelicensing education hours (20 hours for Property and 20 hours for Casualty per the CIB hour table) and hold a valid school Certificate of Completion — brought to the test center — before registering with PSI; all applicants must also provide electronic fingerprints (USD 61.25) at the test site. A passed P&C education course also satisfies the Personal Lines education requirement.
Retake policy
Unlimited attempts within the 1-year eligibility window — full fee applies to each retake and a candidate may retest as soon as the next business day (a candidate who tests unsuccessfully can call the next day and retest the day after, depending on space availability); if the exam is not passed within 1 year, the prelicensing education course must be retaken
