Exam structure

Single section of 120 three-option multiple-choice items delivered in random order, no pre-set sections; 100 scored items spread evenly across 10 domains (Leadership & Strategy, Facility Operations, Risk Management, Finance & Business, Sustainability, Communication, Quality, Real Estate, Facility Technology and Data Management, Project Management — 10 scored items each) plus 20 unscored pretest items

Eligibility

Option 1: bachelor's or master's level Facility Management degree + 3 years FM work experience in most domains; Option 2: any other education level + 5 years FM experience in most domains; IFMA Ethics Assessment (or approved ethics coursework) required within 30 days of passing

Retake policy

Up to 12 months to retake at reduced fee (USD 265 member / USD 365 nonmember); no limit on number of attempts; one free retake currently allowed per candidate
