One 150-item computer-based exam in a single sitting covering: Federal Laws and Regulations (3 items), Washington Laws Rules and Regulations (45 items), General Insurance Concepts (6), Life Accident and Health Insurance Basics (20), Types of Life Insurance Policies (12), Life Insurance Policy Provisions Options and Riders (17), Annuities (6), Individual Accident and Health Policy Provisions (10), Disability Income and Related Insurance (5), Medical Plans (13), Group Health Insurance (3), Health Insurance for Senior Citizens and Special Needs Individuals (5), and Federal Tax Considerations for Life and Health Insurance (5). All items are multiple choice delivered by computer.

Washington residency requirements: 18 years of age and trustworthy/competent; pre-licensing education is NOT required (OIC: 'Effective July 23, 2023, Washington will no longer require pre-licensing education to take your insurance exam'); the license application and fingerprinting happen after passing, not before
No limit on attempts, but a new appointment cannot be made on the same day as a failed attempt (earliest next-day rebooking); each retake requires a new exam fee, which is non-refundable and non-transferable
