One multiple-choice examination in four parts: Part I General — Life and Health Insurance (30 questions), Part II Life Insurance (55), Part III Health Insurance (45), Part IV Alabama Insurance Law (20). The same content outline also governs the single-line Life exam (125 questions) and Health exam (100 questions)
Alabama's own producer licensing examination, required for resident producers seeking the Life and/or Health lines of authority in Alabama; nonresidents licensed and in good standing in another state are exempt from taking it.
Required before licensure for the Life and Health lines of authority; no prelicensing course requirement is imposed on the exam itself (applicants holding a current producer license in another state, in good standing, are exempt as nonresidents)
Waiting-period limits: after failing two examinations for a line of authority, a 90-day wait is required; after a fourth failure, a 180-day wait applies to each subsequent attempt; waiting periods expire 24 months after the last failure. Life and Health waiting periods cross-apply to the combined Life & Health exam (and vice versa)
