One unproctored online exam of 50 multiple-choice questions covering FinOps Framework fundamentals: the FinOps Framework, FinOps teams and personas, FinOps Domains & Capabilities, anatomy of the cloud bill, and the Inform, Optimize, and Operate lifecycle phases
Where rules vary
A worldwide industry certification with no geographic eligibility restriction: the exam is delivered online, self-directed and unproctored anywhere, purchases are handled globally in USD, and the Foundation describes non-U.S. customers alongside U.S. ones.
Eligibility
No formal prerequisites; a general understanding of technology infrastructure, usage-based pricing models, and familiarity with a major cloud service provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is recommended
Retake policy
Three attempts to pass within 12 months of the purchase date (included in the purchase); recertification exams are available at a discount of the full exam price
