Two competency domains of 20 questions each (50/50 weight): Domain 1 'Fundamental principles and concepts of an information security management system (ISMS)' and Domain 2 'Information security management system (ISMS)'; multiple-choice, closed-book, with stand-alone and scenario-based questions
Where rules vary
PECB delivers the same exam worldwide through its international partner network and online via the PECB Exams application; the candidate handbook lists no jurisdiction-specific variants (only a 10-minute non-native-language accommodation).
Eligibility
Completion of the PECB ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Foundation training course is required (mandatory for the ANAB-accredited certificate program); no professional or project experience required
Retake policy
Unlimited retakes; 15-day wait after the first attempt; free retake within 12 months for candidates who took the training with a PECB partner
