Fortinet NSE 4 - FortiOS Administrator

The Fortinet NSE 4 - FortiOS 7.6 Administrator exam is the single proctored exam required for the NSE 4 FortiOS certification, which validates the ability to configure, operate, and administer FortiGate devices. The 50-55 question, 80-90 minute exam uses multiple-choice and drag-and-drop items covering five weighted topic areas (deployment and system configuration, firewall policies and authentication, content inspection, routing, VPNs), is delivered in English or Japanese at Pearson VUE test centers or via OnVUE online proctoring worldwide, and is scored pass/fail with the certification active for two years. The exam was branded FCP - FortiGate Administrator from 2023 until the 2025-2026 return of the numbered NSE program.

Eligibility

None required (no course or certification prerequisite); the FortiOS 7.6 Administrator course and hands-on experience are recommended (1-2 years networking, 0-1 year network security, minimum 6 months hands-on with FortiGate)

Retake policy

Must wait 15 days before retaking a failed exam; an exam that has been passed cannot be taken again (Pearson VUE blocks registration for already-passed exams)
