Exam structure
One computer-based exam: 100 multiple-choice questions (some scenario-based) in a single 2.75-hour sitting with a 15-minute break; no separately timed or scored sections. Blueprint (BoK v2.1) domains with published question counts: Domain I 'Understanding the foundations of AI governance' 16–20 questions; Domain II 'Understanding how laws, standards and frameworks apply to AI' 19–23; Domain III 'Understanding how to govern AI development' 21–25; Domain IV 'Understanding how to govern AI deployment and use' 21–25

Eligibility
No eligibility requirements to sit the exam; the exam must be purchased before scheduling, and IAPP membership or a Certification Maintenance Fee is required for the certification to be awarded and remain in good standing

A new exam must be purchased after a failed attempt; the retake appointment cannot be scheduled sooner than seven days after the prior attempt, and failed exams receive a discounted retake price
