Exam structure
Two parts: an 80-question multiple-choice knowledge test (delivered on computer, one question at a time) and an in-person skill test of 3-4 performed nurse aide tasks; both parts must be passed for certification
Where rules vary
Oregon's own Board-approved nurse aide competency examination, required for certification and listing on the Oregon Nurse Aide Registry.
Eligibility
Must be registered with OSBN, complete an OSBN-approved nurse aide education program, and meet all other OSBN certification requirements; ADA accommodations must be approved by OSBN before testing
Retake policy
After completing a training program, attempts are unlimited; OSBN applications expire after 1 year but candidates can re-apply and continue testing; re-examination fees are paid to OSBN through the nurse portal
