The Nursing Assistant Certification (NAC) exam is Washington State's two-part competency exam (in-person skills test plus online knowledge test) required to become credentialed as a Nursing Assistant Certified; the knowledge test is the NNAAP Written (or Oral) Examination administered by Credentia.

Exam structure
Two parts taken in order: Part 1 is an in-person Skills Test (administered by the training program or at a WABON regional test site) covering 22 testable skills; Part 2 — only after passing Part 1 — is the online Knowledge Test: the NNAAP Written Examination (70 multiple-choice items, 60 scored) or an Oral Examination, scored across domains including Basic Nursing Skills (35%), Activities of Daily Living (22%), Role of the Nurse Aide, Psychosocial Care Skills, and Self-care and Independence.

Washington-State-specific competency exam for the Nursing Assistant Certified credential, governed by RCW 18.88A and WAC 246-841A; the knowledge test is Washington's administration of the NNAAP
Eligibility
Completion of a Washington-approved nursing assistant training program (traditional, HCA Bridge, or MA Bridge), or a non-routine eligibility route (E2–E5, E7–E9) requiring a complete application with DOH Credentialing for an Authorization to Test letter; the Skills Test must be passed before registering for the Knowledge Test
Retake policy
Four attempts allowed to pass the Written (or Oral) Examination (and both portions); a new examination fee is required for each retake; after the fourth failure, a state-approved training program must be completed and both parts re-taken; OBRA re-activation candidates (route E8) get only 1 re-test attempt
