Two parts: (1) a 75-item multiple-choice written test (or oral/audio substitution) drawn from the state-approved task list, and (2) an in-person skills demonstration of at least five procedures randomly selected from a pool of evaluation items, scored step-by-step with critical steps marked
Kentucky's OBRA-based state nurse aide competency evaluation; passing names are forwarded to the Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry maintained by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
Completion of a state-approved 75-hour nurse aide training course (program coordinator submits the candidate for testing), or eligibility via the nursing-student SRNA Challenge; training expires one year after completion
A failed part may be retaken at the next available test date (written-only retake if only the written was failed; all five skills repeated if the performance test was failed); employed individuals get 3 attempts within the initial 4-month employment period, non-employed 3 attempts within one year of training completion
