The ServSafe Food Handler Assessment is the 40-question, untimed, non-proctored online test of the National Restaurant Association's ServSafe Food Handler program (ANAB-accredited under ASTM 2659, content aligned to the 2022 FDA Food Code); candidates complete the short online course first, need at least 75% to earn the Certificate of Achievement (some jurisdictions set a different passing score), get three attempts with the purchase, and receive a certificate recognized for three years.

One 40-question, non-proctored, untimed assessment (no separately timed sections) covering the food-safety areas taught in the ServSafe Food Handler course: basic food safety, personal hygiene, cross-contamination and allergens, time and temperature, and cleaning and sanitation
The non-state-specific assessment is uniform nationally; state or employer requirements for food-handler training (and the required passing score) vary by jurisdiction, and state-specific versions of the course and assessment are sold separately for some states (e.g., California, Texas, San Diego County).
