Full battery of three subject-area placement tests — mathematics, reading, and writing — each with 30 computer-adaptive selected-response questions (25 operational + 5 field-test); a separate Diagnostic test per subject supports targeted remediation
The PERT is Florida's statewide common placement test, administered to students in Florida public high schools and Florida College System institutions; the exam itself is uniform statewide (institutions differ only in local testing, retake, and fee policies). Once completed, scores are accessible to all FCS college testing centers without the student sending them.
Not required for Florida public high school graduates (2003-04 or later) or active-duty U.S. Armed Services members, who are exempt from placement testing; other students (out-of-state, homeschooled, private school, GED) must take the placement measure(s) determined by the college
Institution-set; e.g. two attempts per subtest in a two-year period at PHSC (third only by approval), and two attempts per subtest before enrollment at MDC with prep/remediation required before retakes
