Exam structure
State-customized computer-based jurisprudence exam combining federal and Pennsylvania pharmacy-law questions with no distinction made between them (every question answered per the prevailing laws of the state in which licensure is sought); adaptive selected-response items across four competency areas — Licensure/Personnel (22%), Pharmacist Practice (33%), Dispensing Requirements (24%), Pharmacy Operations (21%)
Where rules vary
The MPJE is customized per jurisdiction; this row is the Pennsylvania version. NABP: "The MPJE is a state-specific exam, whereas the UMPJE is a uniform jurisprudence exam for participating jurisdictions." Candidates must answer every question "in terms of the prevailing laws of the state in which you are seeking licensure." Pennsylvania has not adopted the Uniform MPJE (UMPJE) as of this writing; the PA Department of State licensure guide still requires the "PA MPJE" and the UMPJE early-administration pilot list (Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, ...) does not include Pennsylvania. MPJE results cannot be transferred between jurisdictions.
Eligibility
Graduation from an ACPE-accredited entry-level pharmacy program (or FPGEC certification) before applying; Pennsylvania additionally requires proof of required education and 1,500 acceptable intern hours before authorizing the PA MPJE
Retake policy
5 attempts per jurisdiction to pass the MPJE; candidates who do not pass must re-register and pay the applicable fee each attempt (USD 170 resit application); USD 50 reschedule fee inside the cancellation window; USD 200 rescore fee
