The Overseas Pharmacist Readiness Assessment (OPRA®) exam is an Australian Pharmacy Council exam that assesses whether overseas-trained pharmacists have the necessary knowledge and understanding of the biomedical, pharmaceutical and clinical sciences underlying the practice of pharmacy in Australia, as a step towards provisional registration as a pharmacist in Australia.

Exam structure
One 120-question multiple-choice paper (single correct answer, 3 distractors) across five content areas: Biomedical sciences (20%), Medicinal chemistry and biopharmaceutics (10%), Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (10%), Pharmacology and toxicology (15%), and Therapeutics and patient care (45%)
Where rules vary
Australian registration exam delivered on behalf of the Pharmacy Board of Australia; candidates sit it at APC test centres in 35+ countries worldwide (Australia, India, UK, UAE, USA-adjacent list on the Knowledge Stream page), so delivery is global while the credential is Australian. APC also delivers the OPRA® exam on behalf of the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand as a separate NZ pathway (same 120-question, 2.5-hour format); this packet models the Australian Knowledge Stream administration.
Eligibility
APC Eligibility Check (AUD 810) must be passed first; requires a pharmacy qualification from a country other than Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK or the USA, equivalent to 4 years' full-time study (completed after 1 January 2006) or 3 years (before 2006)
Retake policy
Unlimited re-sits on the Australian pathway; register in a later exam period and pay the full fee each attempt
