A single written 60-question multiple-choice test covering the topics of the ministry-prescribed security guard basic training course (the 13 study-guide sections: introduction to the security industry, PSISA and code of conduct, basic security procedures, report writing, health and safety, emergency response, Canadian legal system, legal authorities, effective communications, sensitivity training, use of force theory, emergency first aid, exam preparation)
The security guard test is the Ontario provincial licensing test required under the Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005 and its Training and Testing regulation; it is offered online and at DriveTest centres across Ontario.
Completion of ministry-prescribed basic security guard training (including in-person Emergency Level First Aid/CPR certification of at least 6.5 hours) and a Training Completion Number (TCN) issued by the training provider; already-licensed individuals may take only the test for which they are licensed
If you fail, you must book another appointment and rewrite the whole test (full fee again); no mandatory waiting period between attempts, but bookings must be made by 3:00pm on the day before the test
