Associate Safety Professional (ASP)

The ASP examination is BCSP's certification exam for paraprofessional-level safety practitioners who hold at least a bachelor's degree in any field (or an SH&E associate degree) plus one year of professional safety experience. It is delivered by computer at Pearson VUE test centers worldwide against the nine-domain ASP11 blueprint.

Exam structure

BCSP is a U.S.-headquartered credentialing body (Indianapolis, IN) but the exam is offered worldwide with no country restriction; Pearson VUE delivers BCSP exams 'at locations throughout the world'.

Eligibility

Bachelor's degree in any field, or an associate degree in safety, health, or environment including at least four courses (12 semester hours / 18 quarter hours) in the SH&E domains of the ASP blueprint; one year of SH&E experience with at least 50% preventative, professional-level safety duties; disclosure of criminal convictions and adverse license/credential actions; foreign degrees evaluated for U.S. equivalency

Retake policy

Retakes permitted at any available appointment at least six weeks after the last attempt; the exam fee applies to each attempt (the exam bundle includes two attempts)
