Automobile Service Consultant Certification Test (ASE C1)
The ASE C1 Automobile Service Consultant certification test is the C-series certification exam for service consultants (service writers): a 60-question (50 scored, 10 unscored research) multiple-choice computer-based test with 75 minutes allowed, taken in English at Prometric test centers for a USD 62 test fee plus a USD 34 per-order registration fee (remote testing available only for the separate C1R recertification test).

Exam structure

ASE certification testing is offered in the United States, U.S. territories, and Canada; U.S. military personnel can additionally take tests on certain overseas bases
Eligibility
No prerequisite to sit the C1 test; to become certified, Service Consultants must pass the C1 test and present proof of two years of work experience specifically related to service writing (not hands-on automotive repair)
Retake policy
After failing, wait 30 full days before purchasing and scheduling the same test again (full test and registration fees apply again)
