The ASE A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems certification test is the Automobile/Light Truck series certification exam for electrical and electronic systems technicians: a 60-question (50 scored, 10 unscored research) multiple-choice computer-based test with 90 minutes allowed, taken in English or Spanish at Prometric test centers (remote testing available only for the separate A6R recertification test), for a USD 62 test fee plus a USD 34 per-order registration fee.

One 60-question (50 scored) multiple-choice test across five content areas per the ASE test specifications: General Electrical/Electronic System Diagnosis (13 questions, 26%), Battery and Starting System Diagnosis and Repair (9, 18%), Charging System Diagnosis and Repair (5, 10%), Lighting Systems Diagnosis and Repair (6, 12%), and Body Electrical Systems Diagnosis and Repair (17, 34%)
ASE certification testing is offered in the United States, U.S. territories, and Canada; U.S. military personnel can additionally take tests on certain overseas bases
No prerequisite to sit the A6 test (certification tests may be taken before documenting experience; the work-experience form 'does not have to be submitted before you take your test'); to become certified, candidates must pass and document 2 years full-time hands-on Repair Technician work experience (up to half may be met by vocational training)
After failing, wait 30 full days before purchasing and scheduling the same test again (full test and registration fees apply again)
