Arizona Notary Public Examination
The Arizona notary competency examination is a proctored, open-book exam required since July 1, 2025 for all new and renewing Arizona notaries public under A.R.S. § 41-270, instituted by the Arizona Secretary of State and delivered at Pearson VUE testing sites in Arizona or remotely.

Eligibility
Arizona residency; at least 18 years of age; able to read and write English; U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; no disqualifying felony or moral-turpitude conviction; must register with Pearson VUE and obtain a Candidate ID Number before applying for a commission
Retake policy
Exam may be taken 3 times; after a third failed attempt, a 30-day wait is required before rescheduling
