Where rules vary
Tennessee state trade-license exam issued under T.C.A. § 62-6-102(d); the LLE license covers electrical work less than $25,000 per project and applies in municipalities utilizing the state Division of Fire Prevention for permits or inspections — local governments may instead impose their own local licensing requirement.
Eligibility
Complete the Initial Limited Licensed Electrician (LLE) Application online at core.tn.gov (USD 50 initial application fee); the license is issued to individuals passing the LLE trade exam
Retake policy
No waiting period and no limit on the number of retakes (USD 53 per attempt); candidates who have passed may not retake the exam unless directed by the Board
