Exam structure

Two-part multiple-choice certification exam: the Core Manual exam (50 questions, one hour, closed book, common to all exterminators) and the Licence Category Specific Module exam (50 questions, one and a half hours, open book, covering the Structural licence class — structural pest extermination). Both parts must be passed at 75% or greater to obtain Structural licence category certification. This exam row is the Structural category module.

Where rules vary

The structural exterminator certification exam is the Ontario provincial requirement for a Structural Pesticide Exterminator Licence under Ontario's Pesticides Act and O. Reg. 63/09; exams are scheduled at locations across Ontario.

Eligibility

Completed application with payment to OPT&C; study materials (Core Manual and Licence Category Specific Module) are sent to the applicant before scheduling; licence holders must be at least sixteen years of age

Retake policy

If you fail, you have 12 months to rewrite the exam, with a maximum of two more attempts during the 12 months and no more than two attempts in any six-month period; rewrite fee CAD 82.00; after three attempts you can reapply as a new applicant one year after the initial attempt
