FAST Grade 6 ELA Reading
FAST Grade 6 ELA Reading is Florida's statewide, computer-adaptive English Language Arts Reading assessment for grade 6 students, aligned to the B.E.S.T. Standards and administered three times per school year (PM1, PM2, PM3) as part of the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking progress monitoring system run by the Florida Department of Education.

Testing time90 minutes for PM1 and PM2; 120 minutes for PM3 — administered in one session in one day; students still working at the end of the session length may be given the time needed, up to the end of the school day
ScoringNo pass/fail rule for grade 6: students receive an overall scale score on the B.E.S.T. scale and one of five achievement levels; Achievement Level 3 indicates On Grade Level performance. Grade 6 ELA Reading level ranges: Level 1 161-208, Level 2 209-224, Level 3 225-236, Level 4 237-249, Level 5 250-284. (Pass rules exist only at grade 3 for promotion and grade 10 for graduation; PM1/PM2 results are informational only and PM3 is used for school accountability.)

Exam structure
One computer-adaptive session of 36-40 items across three reporting categories: Reading Prose and Poetry (25-35% of test), Reading Informational Text (25-35%), and Reading Across Genres & Vocabulary (35-50%), with a 50/50 fiction/informational genre balance for the grades 6-8 band. Items are traditional multiple choice plus technology-enhanced types: Selectable Hot Text, Multiselect, Evidence-Based Selected Response (EBSR), Table Match, and multimedia items.
