Heavy vehicle knowledge test (Victoria)
The heavy vehicle knowledge test is one of the mandatory requirements for a Victorian heavy vehicle licence (LR/MR/HR rigid and HC/MC combination categories); the whole licence assessment, including the knowledge test, is conducted by providers accredited by Victoria's Department of Transport and Planning, based on the Victorian Bus and Truck Drivers Handbook. The official pages name the test only generically as "a heavy vehicle knowledge test"; the rigid/combination split in the ledger title is not stated verbatim on any official Victorian page (it is explicit in NSW, not Victoria).

Where rules vary
A Victorian state licensing requirement: "You'll need a Victorian heavy vehicle licence to drive a vehicle with a gross mass of more than 4.5 tonnes." The same knowledge-test requirement applies across heavy vehicle categories; national competency/assessment standards are applied.
Eligibility
Hold a current Victorian driver licence or have held an Australian driver licence (including probationary P1/P2 for the minimum period for the category), meet national medical standards for private and commercial vehicle drivers, have no active Fines Victoria sanctions, and pass an eyesight test as part of the process
