One uniform national licensing examination required to become a licensed U.S. customs broker and conduct customs business before CBP; eligibility is restricted to U.S. citizens.
U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older, and not an officer or employee of the U.S. government on the exam date
An examinee may retake the examination when it is next offered (twice yearly) by re-applying and paying the $390 examination fee; since the April 2026 CBLE, examinees scoring within three questions of passing (57 or higher out of 80) may instead appeal up to four questions
