Exam structure
Two-part computer-based, multiple-choice modular exam; candidates may take both modules in a single day or one at a time within the same or separate testing windows and choose which module to sit first; modules are scored independently — a candidate who passes one module and fails the other retakes (and pays for) only the failed module; blueprints are competency-based (43 statements for A&B, 54 for C&D), with Strategy, Business Principles and Operations, and Leadership making up half the exam per the published blueprint description

North American (US and Canada) professional certification for public procurement professionals; NIGP's 65 regional chapters span the US and Canada and the certification is described as the benchmark 'across North America'; a single uniform exam with no state/province variants
Eligibility
Approved application required: formal education plus relevant full-time procurement work experience under five eligibility pathways (Pathway A: graduate degree + 2 years' experience; Pathway B: bachelor's degree + graduate certificate in public administration/public policy/supply chain/procurement + 3 years' experience; through Pathway E: no degree + 8 years' experience); no specific procurement courses or training are required for eligibility
Retake policy
Three opportunities to pass each module — Modules A & B: by the end of the application period or November 30, 2026, whichever comes first; Modules C & D: by the end of the two-year application period; USD 150 retest fee; only the failed module is retaken and paid for
