Billing and Reimbursement Certificate Exam
The Billing and Reimbursement Certificate Exam is PTCB's 75-question, 80-minute computer-based assessment for the Assessment-Based Billing and Reimbursement Certificate: open only to active PTCB CPhTs, covering five US pharmacy-billing domains, scored 0–400 with 300 required to pass, delivered at Pearson VUE test centers or online with a live proctor, and the certificate never expires.

Exam structure
One 75-question multiple-choice exam across five domains: Programs and Eligibility (26.67%), Pharmacy Claims Processing and Adjudication (36.67%), Medical Claims Processing and Adjudication (8.33%), Prior Authorization (18.33%), and Audits and Compliance (10.00%)
Where rules vary
U.S. national assessment-based certificate: eligibility requires an active PTCB CPhT Certification (a U.S. national credential), the exam is delivered 'in-person at more than 1,400 Pearson Test Centers nationwide, including more than 100 military on-base sites', and the content outline covers U.S. payer systems (Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, CMS, 340B)
Eligibility
Must hold an active PTCB CPhT Certification plus one pathway — Pathway 1: completion of a PTCB-Recognized Billing and Reimbursement Education/Training Program AND at least 6 months of pharmacy technician experience with at least 50% devoted to billing and reimbursement activities; Pathway 2: at least 12 months of full-time pharmacy technician experience with at least 50% devoted to billing and reimbursement activities; a Supervisor Attestation Form must be uploaded with the application
Retake policy
No waiting period between exam attempts for Assessment-Based Certificate Programs; each attempt requires a new application and the current fee; unlimited attempts allowed
