One closed-book, computer-based multiple-choice examination of 175 four-option questions; certification additionally requires an approved photographic portfolio (color fundus and fluorescein angiography images), verified employment as a retinal angiographer for a minimum of 2 years (formal education or professional certification may substitute up to 1 year), and a current CPR certificate
An international professional-society certification with no geographic eligibility restriction: the BOC 'shall admit applicants of any age, sex or sexual orientation, race, religion, color, national origin, disability or marital status', and the examination is delivered at test sites in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. territories, Canada, and various sites outside North America.
Approved portfolio; employment as a retinal angiographer for a minimum of 2 years (documented formal education or professional certification may substitute up to 1 year, via the Provisional CRA path); current CPR certificate; application and examination application approved before scheduling
Retesting fee of USD 285 for a subsequent administration; candidates have one year from the scheduling email to complete the examination
