Fixed-length linear exam with six content domains (published as ranges): Airway, Respiration & Ventilation 9–13%; Cardiology & Resuscitation 11–15%; Trauma 7–11%; Medical/Obstetrics/Gynecology 25–29%; EMS Operations 6–10%; Clinical Judgment 31–35%. Items are primarily multiple-choice plus multiple-response and technology-enhanced items (Build List, Drag-and-Drop, Option-Check Box) incorporated throughout En Route, Scene, and Post Scene EMS scenarios; pediatric content integrated throughout
National certification exam, uniform nationwide; state EMS offices may additionally require a state license
Current National Registry certification or state license at the EMT level or higher; successful completion of a state-approved AEMT course including Student Minimum Competencies (SMC) or the COAEMSP Recommended Student Minimum Competency Matrix, completed within the past two years with Program Director verification
15-day wait after each attempt; six total chances to pass; remedial education required after three failures (uploaded with the fourth-attempt application)
