Exam structure
Single 90-question computer-based written exam, hands-on not required, covering the fundamental subject knowledge, task performance, and task knowledge activities for avionics professionals defined in ASTM F3245; five specialized endorsements (AEIT, ANS, DNS, OCS, RCS) are available only after passing the AET
Where rules vary
A U.S. industry certification program: NCATT was a U.S. National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education center whose certifications are now maintained by ASTM International; the AET plus one avionics endorsement is accepted by the FAA as a means of showing 'formal training' for a Repairman Certificate under 14 CFR 65.101(a)(5)(ii).
