National Board of Medical Examiners

NBME, founded in 1915, is a mission-driven organization that specializes in the creation of high-quality assessments and learning tools for health care professionals, advancing assessment of health care professionals to achieve optimal care for all. Together with the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) it co-sponsors the USMLE program, develops Step 1 examination content, and registers students and graduates of U.S. medical schools for the Steps through the MyUSMLE portal.
