The U.S. federal department that owns the Defense Language Testing Program under which the military services administer the DLAB; the successor battery was developed by the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center with the University of Maryland Center for the Advanced Study of Language, and distribution to Military Entrance Processing Stations runs through the Defense Manpower Data Center.
