Texas Esthetician Written Examination
The Texas Esthetician Written Examination is the first of two separately scheduled examinations required for a Texas Esthetician license. The PSI-delivered, closed-book test has 75 scored and 7 unscored multiple-choice items, allows 115 minutes in total, requires 70% to pass, costs USD 55 per attempt, and is available at Texas test centers or by online proctoring.

Eligibility
TDLR written-exam eligibility after completing the required portion of a 750-hour Esthetician course at a Texas-licensed school; TDLR approval is required before scheduling
Retake policy
Unlimited attempts within the 5-year eligibility window, but a separate fee is required for each attempt and a failed candidate must wait 24 hours before scheduling again (no same-day retake); free rescheduling only with notice at least 2 days before the appointment
