Two parts of four 30-item subtests each: Part 1 Mental Ability (Verbal, Inductive Reasoning, Quantitative, Perceptual Acuity) in 2 hours 15 minutes, then a 10-minute break, then Part 2 Academic Proficiency (Biology, Physics, Social Science, Chemistry) in 1 hour 30 minutes; all items multiple choice with four or five options
The NMAT is required for admission to medical degree programs in the Philippines; a USD-priced NMAT-International administration exists for applicants outside the country, but the exam identity is Philippine national.

Retakes permitted (prior examinees below cut-off and those improving scores are explicitly eligible); a retake or reschedule requires a request to the NMAT Secretariat within the registration period, and payment is valid only for the registered test date
