Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT)
The CCT examination is CCI's computer-based certification exam for professionals working in ECG, Holter monitoring, and stress testing, covering pre-procedural activities, resting and 12-lead ECG performance and analysis, stress testing, ambulatory monitoring, and rhythm analysis. Exam structure
130 questions across six weighted duty domains — Conducting Pre-Procedural Activities (10%), Performing Resting ECG (12-Lead, 15-Lead, etc.) (14%), Analyzing 12-Lead ECG (22%), Performing Stress Tests (10%), Performing Ambulatory Monitoring (Holter, Remote Event, Telemetry) (4%), and Performing Rhythm Analysis (40%) — using a mix of traditional multiple-choice, multiple-response, hot spot, and drag-and-place item types.
Where rules vary
The CCT is a private, non-governmental U.S. certification (not a state license) with one uniform exam; CCI administers it at over 230 Pearson Professional Centers in the United States and U.S. territories and at over 3,000 Pearson VUE Authorized Test Centers internationally, but the credential identity is U.S.-based.
Eligibility
High school diploma or GED at time of application plus one documented pathway: CCT1 (student/graduate of a cardiovascular or allied health training program), CCT2 (current or prior employment in Cardiovascular Technology or an AMA-recognized allied health field), or CCT3 (completed graduate or undergraduate degree in a science or physical health field)
Retake policy
Candidates who fail must complete a new application and pay the fee again; an application may be resubmitted one day after testing, and a 45-day waiting period applies before the second attempt
